Accolades
Ron was a Co-Captain and All-American at the University of Southern California. He was a first round draft choice of the then world champion Baltimore Colts and of the new American Football League. He signed to play with the Los Angeles Chargers. Ron played ten years for the Chargers and two years for the Oakland Raiders. Twice Ron was selected Captain of the Chargers, highly unusual for an offensive lineman.
His football honors included 9 years All-Pro; inducted into Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1979; selected to the Sports Illustrated All-Time Pro Football Team; selected as the 24th Greatest Player of All-Time by Football Digest; inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. While playing, Ron attended law school at night at the University of San Diego and had passed the California State Bar before joining the Raiders.
Where Are They Now
The last twelve years of his law practice, Ron’s firm represented retired professional athletes in claims for workers’ compensation benefits. Ron’s son, Charles, took over the firm in 2016. Charles and his law partner, Patrick Namanny, now operate the firm under the name Mix & Namanny. Ron is no longer a practicing attorney but assists Mix & Namanny on a part-time, volunteer basis working from his home in the Point Loma community in San Diego. Ron is on the Board of Directors of the Pro Football Retired Players Association (“PFRPA”).
Why CBD?
In his law practice, Ron represented several thousand former professional athletes, reviewing thousands of medical evaluations, x-rays, and MRI’s. Besides his own experience of severe joint pain, that triggered loss of sleep which, in turn, caused fatigue during the day.
